Exploits in Istanbul 8.2
Project 2: to visit the two grand railway stations in Istanbul, the one European, the other Asian. The trains used to be put on a ferry and shipped across the Bosphorus, but sadly no more, and you can’t even arrive by train from London right now as the last stretch of line is being repaired. But we went and paid our respects in the station bar, before taking the ferry across to Kadiköy.
Over in Asia, the station is very fine and totally empty, apart from a bridal photoshoot. There are plenty of trains at platforms but none show any signs of intention to depart. But by then we were were ready for a very late lunch/high tea in our favourite eating place so far.
