Pouring rain and howling winds, so we drove to Aberaeron from our house in New Quay. It’s a lovely town, built by the Rev. Alban Gywne in 1807 using his wife’s inheritance – there’s no record of what she thought about this. It has a little harbour and a grand town square, all surrounded by stuccoed houses which are now painted bright colours – including a very particular dark blue. Sadly it was so wet that cameras didn’t come out.
After (a very good) lunch the rain let up and we walked the coast from Pont y Gilfach – Robin for a short distance before a knee-saving return to the van; me back to New Quay, both arriving about the same time. Absolutely beautiful.
