coast path

On the Sunday we drove to the top of the road and walked the track the other way, taking in the young offenders institution (the most romantic part of the British Coast Path I have ever walked) on the way.

Before we got there, we went south along another incline (Mr Verne’s this time). Then past the very noisy young offenders (who apparently run a kitchen garden and cafe, which sadly we didn’t get to) and on to Southwell via Church Ope with its castle and its cove.

The cove has beach shacks, each with its private stone-walled stone garden. Quite odd, and very lovely. From there it was on to Southwell, across the island and back up the west coast.
