girls’ day out

Jane R and I went to the Martin Creed at the Hayward, and then on to Brindisa for lunch. The exhibition was such fun – a huge rotating metal beam so big that they had cut down the concrete stanchions on the ramp in the downstairs space so it could spin, at varying speeds. On it, the word MOTHERS in enormous neon. If you are over six foot six you have to go in through a different door and be height tested, like children do on rides at fairgrounds, but the inverse. And upstairs a corner of the gallery is enclosed and filled with white balloons (containing exactly 50% of the air in the enclosure) – and you can go in, and swim around in them. Lots of other good stuff, too.
